Sierra Dejesus-Joyner was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up spending summers in rural British Columbia. She attended an arts high school and graduated from the University of Guelph with a BA (Hons) in Anthropology and minor in Studio Art in 2022. Her art typically features animals and horses have been her life-long passion. Formerly focused on figurative drawing and paining, she is currently interested in folk arts such as mask-making and art that tells a story, especially through connecting nature and culture. Her many interests include language learning, folklore, science, ethical evidence-based animal training, cooking, model horses, and creating of all kinds.

Whenever inspired, Sierra thinks: "Can I make this myself?" She lived and worked in South Korea for three years and is currently studying behaviorology and animal training while continuing to create.
